####################For Immediate Release####################

The 254 unit townhome development to be built off of Kali Drive in
Eldersburg by Security Development Corporation (SDC) has been
receiving increased attention.  Carrolltowne United, a group formed to find
viable solutions to the challenges inherent to that development, would like
to present key outcomes from their November 2nd meeting.

•  Carrolltowne United has been organizing a meeting with SDC and the
County Government to work on addressing the impact the new
development will have on the surrounding area. The meeting will have two
components.

1.  The meeting will include representatives from Carrolltowne II to focus
on the issue of transforming Kali Drive into a cul-de-sac (when entering
from the southern entrance).  We expect those representatives to
negotiate the details of the future of Kali Drive for themselves. The role of
Carrolltowne United in this context is largely limited to creating the
conditions for a successful negotiation by those representatives.

2. The townhome development will have other crucial impacts on the
community, such as schools and roads, and the community anticipates CU
to be a positive influence with respect to these issues.  As such, CU will
address these additional topics during the meeting between the County,
SDC, and CU:  the creation of an access point to the new community from
Rte. 26, possible improvements to the intersection at Rte. 26 and Ridge
Road, and a potential phasing in of the construction of the property.

•  The schedule of the meeting cannot be determined until after SDC's
current plans are fully approved. We will press for the meeting to be
scheduled as soon after that as practical so that stakeholders can be
notified in a timely manner. We will announce the meeting date at that
time.

Carrolltowne United remains committed to a comprehensive approach to
this complex issue which will result in the best compromise for all parties
involved, including Carroll County Government, SDC, CU, and the greater
Eldersburg community.
